Truck driver “seriously ill” after being impaled to seat

Wellington (dpa) – A New Zealand truck driver was seriously injured Thursday when a canoe fell off a vehicle he was following, smashing through his windscreen and impaling him to his seat.

     Firefighters had to cut him free after the accident near Levin, 95 kilometres north of Wellington, and he was taken to hospital where he was reported to be “seriously ill.”
