National indicates it will ditch light bulb ban

Opposition leader John Key is suggesting he’ll reverse the Government’s ban on ordinary light bulbs next year.
Labour announced last month it would ban the sale of incandescent light bulbs next year, in favour of making the new energy efficient lights compulsory in homes.
But warnings from US authorities that the new CFL bulbs are not advisable for use in children’s bedrooms, or over carpeted areas, have given John Key cause for concern, and a promise that compulsion is not part of National’s manifesto this year.
